Saying hello to the group
This is Yukon, he's a year and a half pure bred rescue dog. We named him after Yukon Cornelius on the Rudolph xmas show. Yukon's lead sled dog is a Saint Bernard.
Love this group, wish I would have known about it earlier!

How do you folks deal with St. spit?
I've already mastered the use of mr. clean magic erasers for wall spit, it's the slime in their water dishes that's the issue. It wasn't a problem before because I would just run the garbage disposal but the disposal broke and the "water" is too thick do go down the drain easily. Any suggestions?

Our New Saint
( Mackamoooo +4 Collapse )
We got him from the Saint Bernard Rescue. His name is Mack and he's 18 months.
It just got tooo lonely in this house. And Ruby needed a friend.
I hope they get along soon. The only problem he really has is that he gets protective of his food and/or bones.
What can we do to help this and prevent a fight with the two dogs? Because Ruby doesn't understand.
Rascal let her get away with murder lol.

Today is Daisy's birthday! She is 2 years old. It seems like just yesterday I was driving to PA to pick her up and cuddling with her on the drive back, her sleeping under my bed well until she got to big to do so lol. Happy Birthday Daisy!!
Behavioral issues with Kahlua
Recently, I've noticed a change in Kahlua's behavior. She's not aggressive, but seems fearful and timid around new people. This has created situations where she has snapped at my step-mother, ex-husband(not that upsetting), and finally she nipped my best friend.
I'm wondering if spaying her will help, and if any of you have had similar issues.
Note: Kahlua doesn't exhibit this behavior while on lead, or outside the house, she only acts this way in the house and back yard. Current Mood: worried

This community has been so quiet. I want to see your dogs!
I haven't posted in forever because I moved and now my computer at home isn't working. I finally found my installation disc, so I installed my camera software on my work computer.( So, here are lots of pics of Lenny!Collapse )

Hi! I am new and i love st. bernards and desperately want one, unfortunately i wont be able to get one for another year (i will be out of college).
I was wondering, however, if you lovely people knew any good st. bernard breeders (id love a pure bred) in the CT area. and depending on where...NJ and NY might also work.
also, do any of you know how much a (approximately of course) male st bernard might cost? i have two bassets so i know vet bills and food will get up there so i am aware of those costs..i just dont know how much i need to save for the actual dog. each of my bassets cost 600, i think, and they were purebred.
ive always preferred male dogs for some reason, girls are cute...i just always bonded more with the males. but then again in real life i am closer to guys than i am with girls..who knows.
